Verse 1: A true Jogi is awakened across all ages; others merely wear physical ear-rings.
Verse 2: Physical ear-rings may dangle and shake, but the ear-ring of the mind is the only one that is truly steadfast.
My mind is the ear-ring, the body is the sacred lake, and I have applied the holy ash of devotion within my heart.
The Ginan critiques superficial religious symbols. While a physical ascetic wears ear-rings (Mundra) and rubs ash (Bhabhut) on their skin, the Pir explains that the true spiritual path is internal. The "ear-ring" should be that of the mind (Manaki mundraa), and the "holy ash" should be applied to the inner self. The metaphor of the water-filled vessel (Paari) emphasizes that life is temporary and dependent entirely on the "breath" (). Once the breath stops, the body has no value, so one must focus on the "Shaah nagari" (the City of the Lord) through constant awareness ().
Verse 4: This fragile body is sustained only by breath, much like a vessel filled with water.
Verse 5: When the vessel breaks, the water spills away; similarly, this physical frame is ultimately of no use on its own.
Verse 6: Wake up, O believers and brothers! This is the time to eliminate your sins.
Verse 7: Laughing and playing, the soul enters the City of the Lord; such a Jogi has won over the entire world.
Verse 8: Pir Hasan Kabirdin recites this Ginan of great essence; the Divine Rider (Lord) is the Master of the ten directions.
